Abstract: The goal of this work is to design and to build a Capacity Planning Model for the long term that allows optimizing the primary supply network for a beer company. Two complementary models were developed. The first one refers to an Optimization Model which was built based on networks theory using the “Flow of Minimum Cost” standard model. This model optimizes the volume assignment through the Supply Network that includes: Manufacturing Plants, Distribution Centres and Distributors. The second model was developed to calculate the resource requirements automatically taking as Input the volumes already optimized. This second model was built taking into account a deep detail of productive and logistical parameters, characteristic in the beer industry. Both models work sequentially, the first one carries out the Optimization function, while the second one allows simulating key parameters variations in order to propose scenarios of resource requirements. A calculation spreadsheet was also added to evaluate financially the different scenarios that can be defined. Finally, it was carried out an example of the use for the whole Strategic Capacity Planning model.
