Elaborar un plan de acción para la implementación de ipv6 en el Ecuador y fomentar su uso

Abstract

The depletion of the IPv4 addresses led the development and deployment of the Internet protocol version 6 (IPv6). This protocol provides a greater number of IP addresses and includes improvements to the IPv4 protocol. It is very important for the different agencies and companies all around the world to start the adoption of IPv6 in order to achieve a protocol level convergence. In consequence there will be a large number of IP addresses that will give way to the development of new cutting-edge technologies. This article consists of an Action Plan made up of three phases which main objective is to guide the deployment of IPv6 in Ecuador. Some of the criteria used for the development of this Action Plan was various of the strategies adopted by countries that currently have IPv6, as well as policies regarding IPv6 issued by international and national institutions. An immediate adoption of IPv6 would allow both technological and economic growth in many sectors such as Government, Industry, Academy and Civil Society.
