| Abstract: | This work is a consequence of the analogue switch to occur in Ecuador which will be held from December 31, 2016 until December 31, 2018, whereby the local TV channels, in order to continue their operation must migrate from analogue to DTT. As the local television channels mostly do not account for large amount of money to make the investment needed to migrate to DTT, a proposal is made to significantly reduce the investment by the sharing of spectrum and also show a way to make such migration. Spectrum sharing is a transmission method which shares bandwidth allocated to allow simultaneous transmission of programming from different TV stations. This technique requires sharing of devices and resources among TV companies so that the cost of the investment is reduced. |
| Description: | Este trabajo surge como consecuencia del apagón analógico a producirse en el Ecuador, que será efectuado el 31 de diciembre del 2016 hasta el 31 de diciembre del 2018, por lo cual los canales de televisión locales, en orden de seguir con su funcionamiento estas empresas deben migrar de tecnología analógica a TDT. Como los canales de televisión locales en su mayoría no predisponen de largas sumas de dinero para realizar la inversión necesaria para migrar a TDT, se propone una manera de disminuir notablemente dicha inversión que consiste en la compartición de espectro y mostramos una manera de cómo efectuar dicha migración. La compartición de espectro es un método de transmisión que consiste en “unir” distintos tipos de programación producido por diferentes canales de televisión. Esta técnica requiere la compartición de dispositivos entre empresas de televisión, de tal manera que se reduce el costo de la inversión. |
