dc.description	En el año 2018, El Ministerio de Turismo diseña La Ruta del Sombrero de Paja Toquilla en Santa Elena abarcando las comunas Barcelona y Dos Mangas. Sin embargo, la limitación de ingresos económicos en estas comunidades, el desinterés y el abandono de conocimientos ancestrales en cuanto a, el cultivo, procesamiento y elaboración de artesanías de paja toquilla motivaron la iniciativa de diseñar experiencias turísticas que destaquen los recursos naturales, el patrimonio cultural inmaterial y las tradiciones vivas del sitio. Para ello se utilizó la metodología Design Thinking, se aplicaron los seis pasos para generar experiencias turísticas, se realizaron entrevistas a actores claves, encuestas al público objetivo, mapas de empatía y fichas técnicas, con el fin de identificar oportunidades de experiencia en cada uno de los sitios. Los resultados obtenidos fueron fundamentales para llevar a cabo la propuesta de programas turísticos para familias y grupos de amigos, con una duración menor a 12 horas contribuyendo así a la generación de ingresos sostenibles a las comunidades locales, fortaleciendo la identidad cultural, preservando el patrimonio cultural y generando concientización tanto a los visitantes como a la propia comunidad. dc.description.abstractenglish	In 2018, the Ministry of Tourism designed the Toquilla Straw Hat Route in Santa Elena, covering the Barcelona and Dos Mangas communes. However, the limitation of economic income in these communities, the lack of interest and the abandonment of ancestral knowledge regarding the cultivation, processing and elaboration of toquilla straw crafts motivated the initiative to design tourist experiences that highlight natural resources, heritage intangible cultural heritage and the living traditions of the site. To do this, the Design Thinking methodology was used, the six steps were applied to generate tourist experiences, interviews with key actors, surveys of the target audience, empathy maps and technical sheets were carried out, in order to identify experience opportunities in each of the places. The results obtained were fundamental to carry out the proposal of tourist programs for families and groups of friends, with a duration of less than 12 hours, thus contributing to the generation of sustainable income for local communities, strengthening cultural identity, preserving cultural heritage. and raising awareness among both visitors and the community itself.
