Murales de Guayaquil: Exploración integral a través de una guía impresa

Abstract

Muralism in the city of Guayaquil represents a significant artistic expression for the local culture and history. However, many of these impressive murals go unnoticed and lack the recognition they deserve, resulting in their neglect and lack of maintenance. This paper focuses on addressing this problem through research on muralism in the city with the main objective of creating a printed guide that highlights the city's iconic murals. The methodology includes, gathering and studying information about muralism within the city through literary research, autoethnography and interviews with prominent muralists. The different aspects of muralism within the city and projects that have sought to promote it will be explored. The validations obtained from expert designers to the guide are positive with recommendations and suggestions to further improve the work. Muralism has become a way to portray a society and different times, history. In summary, this work seeks to concisely show the development of muralism and its authors in the city as a way to portray the society and culture that surrounds us.
