| dc.description.abstract | Ecuador is one of the 17 countries with the greatest diversity on earth per unit area. Among the main ecosystems, we have the pluvio-seasonal dry forests, among them “The BPP“ LA PROSPERINA ”, which is a tropical dry forest, which houses an enormous wealth and biodiversity, especially in flora and fauna. It was declared a protected area, due to the fact that it was formerly an area intervened by society in an unregulated manner, being used for logging and exploitation of its wood for the construction of railways, river boats; other areas were used to establish pastures and plant cornfields. At present, these areas are revegetated by the reforestation program led by ESPOL in the period 1998 to 2000, which was created to guarantee the protection of the biodiversity found there. In this way, this research project seeks to generate an updated database with information on species of flora and fauna of the BPP, demonstrating their current state of conservation. For this, a bibliography review of the 1998 BPP Management Plan and virtual platforms, such as: eBird and iNaturalist, was carried out. As a final result, a biodiversity database updated until 2020 was obtained, registering 283 species for flora and 447 species for fauna, registering tree and bird species as the most abundant in the BPP. This will make it possible to have knowledge of the conservation status of most of the species found in the forest, and for this it is of the utmost importance to take strategic protection and conservation measures, which include projects to preserve the integrity of the existential value of endemic species and ecological value in a correct way for the well- being of this and future generations. | |
