Abstract:
DOCUMENT IN THE PROCESS OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. Ecuador is facing an exponential rise in crime. As a response, video surveillance systems have been implemented to record and playback footage. The limitations of these systems include manual analysis that can be time consuming. At ESPOL, several departments have installed surveillance systems, but CIDIS lacks an efficient method to track and monitor its employees. In response, a person detection and tracking system based on re-identification algorithms and deep learning techniques is proposed, aiming to enhance security and indoor space management whilst considering the possibility of extending the system throughout the whole institution to strengthen its security level. To develop this system, three individual solutions were integrated into one platform to detect, classify and track a person in video footage, primarily using Vision Transformers and focusing on user-friendliness and accuracy. As a result, an 80% accuracy rate was achieved in distinguishing unique persons, while maintaining a 95% tracking precision. The system meets the established standards, is user-friendly and addresses the primary challenges at CIDIS. The system has potential to be implemented throughout ESPOL to reinforce its security measures.

DOCUMENTO EN PROCESO DE PROPIEDAD INTELECTUAL. Ante el incremento exponencial de la delincuencia en Ecuador, se han implementado sistemas de videovigilancia para la grabación y reproducción de video, aunque el análisis manual de las grabaciones resulta laborioso. En ESPOL, se han instalado sistemas de videovigilancia en sus departamentos, pero el CIDIS carece de un método eficiente para controlar y rastrear a sus empleados. De esto, surge la propuesta de un sistema de seguimiento de personas basado en algoritmos de re-identificación utilizando técnicas de deep learning, con el fin de mejorar la seguridad y la gestión de espacios en interiores, evaluando la posibilidad de extenderlo a toda la institución y reforzar su nivel de seguridad general. Para el desarrollo del sistema, se integraron tres soluciones individuales, que permiten la detección, distinción y seguimiento de una persona en un video, utilizando principalmente Vision Transformers, con un enfoque en la facilidad de uso y precisión del sistema. Como resultado, se alcanzó un 80% de exactitud al distinguir personas únicas y un 95% de precisión en el seguimiento. El sistema cumple con los estándares establecidos, es interactivo y resuelve la problemática principal del CIDIS y abre la posibilidad de implementarse en toda la ESPOL para reforzar su nivel de seguridad.
