| Abstract: | El objetivo de este proyecto es elaborar un manual de técnicas de forestación de mangle basado mayormente en la experiencia de la Fundación Calisur para la difusión de buenas prácticas de forestación o reforestación a nivel local o regional en Ecuador. Mediante entrevistas a la Asociación de cangrejeros se obtuvo información sobre los procesos de selección de plántulas. Además, la Fundación Calisur proporcionó informes, imágenes y videos. Igualmente, se realizaron salidas de campo al vivero y a la actividad de siembra de plántulas. Se elaboró un manual que primeramente recopila información sobre la biología y ecología de Rhizophora mangle ya que es la única especie que la fundación Calisur usa para forestar. Seguidamente, el manual describe las etapas más importantes de esta actividad de forestación: selección de sitio, selección de semillas, manejo del vivero, siembra de plántulas y monitoreo post siembra. Finalmente, este manual de forestación tiene el potencial de convertirse en una herramienta muy útil para que los esfuerzos de forestación o reforestación tanto individuales o grupales tengan un punto de partida al conocer cuáles son las técnicas de forestación de manglares, así mismo este documento puede incorporar nueva información conforme se vaya adquiriendo más experiencia sobre este tema. |
| metadata.dc.description.abstractenglish: | The objective of this project is to produce a manual on mangrove afforestation techniques, drawing primarily on the experience of the Calisur Foundation, to disseminate best practices for afforestation and reforestation at the local or regional level in Ecuador. Information regarding seedling selection processes was gathered through interviews with the Crab Harvesters' Association, and the Calisur Foundation provided reports, images, and videos. Additionally, field visits were conducted to the nursery and to seedling planting sites. The resulting manual first compiles information on the biology and ecology of *Rhizophora mangle*, the only species used by the Calisur Foundation for afforestation. It then outlines the key stages of the afforestation process: site selection, seed selection, nursery management, seedling planting, and post-planting monitoring. Ultimately, this manual serves as a valuable tool, providing a starting point for individuals and groups undertaking afforestation or reforestation efforts by detailing mangrove planting techniques; furthermore, the document is designed to incorporate new information as further experience in the field is gained. |
