Abstract:
CONDITION FOR PROJECT PUBLICATION. Wrestling has been part of Ecuador's cultural imaginary since 1940 and currently
experiences a resurgence led by new generations. This project consists of producing the
short documentary "Guayaquil al Ring" with the objective of making visible the practice of
wrestling in Guayaquil through interviews with wrestlers from the Ecuadorian Wrestling
Alliance and recording of training sessions and presentations.
The main justification is that wrestling remains invisible to the general public despite
resurgence efforts. I conducted four in-depth interviews, recorded six training sessions
and two complete events between November and December 2025. I used Sony 4K
camera with Log3 recording at 24fps, boom and Hollyland lavalier microphones, and
multiple storage with backup of 700 GB of material. I applied different aspect ratios (3:4
for interviews, 2.39:1 for action), musicalization with Latin genres based on BPM teory,
and post-production in DaVinci Resolve Studio.
The project resulted in an 11-minute short film structured in six sections addressing
myths, personal experiences, the Alliance's history, and attendees' testimonies. The
actual budget was $1500 USD versus $13400 projected, which demonstrates economic
viability through collaboration. The documentary successfully makes visible the current
practice of wrestling in Guayaquil and documents the effort of a new generation to keep
this cultural tradition alive.

CONDICIONAMIENTO DE PUBLICACION DE PROYECTO. La lucha libre forma parte del imaginario cultural ecuatoriano desde 1940 y actualmente
experimenta un resurgimiento liderado por nuevas generaciones. Este proyecto consiste
en la producción del cortometraje documental "Guayaquil al Ring" con el objetivo de
visibilizar la práctica de la lucha libre en Guayaquil mediante entrevistas a luchadores de
la Alianza Ecuatoriana de Lucha Libre y registro de entrenamientos y presentaciones.
La justificación principal es que la lucha libre permanece invisibilizada ante el público
general a pesar del esfuerzo de resurgimiento. Realicé cuatro entrevistas en profundidad,
registré seis entrenamientos y dos eventos completos entre noviembre y diciembre de
2025. Utilicé cámara Sony 4K con grabación en Log3 a 24fps, micrófonos boom y lavalier
Hollyland, y almacenamiento múltiple con respaldo de 700 GB de material. Apliqué
diferentes relaciones de aspecto (3:4 para entrevistas, 2.39:1 para acción),
musicalización con géneros latinoamericanos basada la teoría de BPM, y postproducción
en DaVinci Resolve Studio.
El proyecto resultó en un cortometraje de 11 minutos estructurado en seis secciones que
abordan mitos, experiencias personales, historia de la Alianza y testimonios de
asistentes. El presupuesto real fue $1500 USD frente a $13200 proyectados, lo que
demuestra viabilidad económica mediante colaboración. El documental logra visibilizar
la práctica actual de la lucha libre en Guayaquil y documenta el esfuerzo de una nueva
generación por mantener viva esta tradición cultural.
