Abstract:
Guayaquil is the Main Port of Ecuador, through it mobilizes the 70% of the foreign trade handled by the National
Port System.
The location of the port provides an incentive for the attraction of traffic from the routes of the Far East and
America. In the same way, it result highly desirable for the concentration of Latin American cargo destined to
cross the Panama Canal which destiny are the east coast of the continent or toward Europe and Africa, even it
could be a transfer port, but its characteristics prevent the support of this type of boats
For these reasons, the deepwater port for the Port Authority of Guayaquil on Posorja is a necessity for the country
due to the evolution of the fleet and the world trade, and the increased size of the ships.
This work focus on analyze the feasibility and urgent necessity to build this port, that will have capacity to admit
vessels up to 16.16 meters draft.
