Resumen:
The Huaquillas County belongs to the El Oro province. This area is characterized by an urban parish called Puerto Hualtaco which is developed in the aquaculture farming industry and commerce. In the field visits were used interviews, surveys and conversations with aquaculture producers, input suppliers and people involved in this activity, it helps to know the methodology and intensity of staple crops of shrimp (Penaeus vannamei), a species that now cultivates with good levels of production due to favorable climatic conditions and natural. But because in the beginning that activity was extensive and harvested in large quantities, the nature of this environment is deteriorating. As producers are aware of environmental care, but are not entirely agree with conservation policies promoted by the state. Also because of border area facing the problem of fuel smuggling, and to be subject to quotas for their production, in many cases do not enter the fuel needed for its activity. Besides the shrimp are small and therefore have less access to credit and negotiating with suppliers.
However it is important to highlight the excellent logistical support and supplies they have, and proximity to the archipelago Jambelí provides opportunities for diversification to tourism aquaculture; the access roads to the place makes it a strategic point for sending supplies to the islands of around.
