Description:	Este proyecto se desarrolló en la parroquia General Morales, cantón y provincia del Cañar. Ante la necesidad de una evaluación a la planta de tratamiento de aguas residuales (PTAR) existente, con el objetivo de repotenciar o sustituir la misma. Luego de realizar el levantamiento de la información existente, y el análisis de calidad de agua de la PTAR, concluimos en sustituir la PTAR, ya que el agua del efluente estaba más contaminada que el agua de ingreso. Se sustituyó la PTAR por una planta formada por un pretratamiento, tratamiento primario, mediante un tanque Imhoff y tratamiento secundario mediante sistemas extensivos como humedales artificiales. Las opciones analizadas fue un humedal artificial de flujo subsuperficial horizontal y un humedal artificial de flujo subsuperficial vertical. Realizamos un diseño de los dos sistemas para analizar cuál es el más idóneo para cumplir con las necesidades y se ajusta a las limitaciones del proyecto. Tomado en cuenta las características del terreno escogimos la opción del humedal de flujo subsuperficial vertical. Adicional a esto, el fango primario producido en el tanque Imhoff será dispuesto en un lecho de secado para el proceso de digestión. Obteniendo como resultado: planos constructivos, presupuesto de obra, especificaciones técnicas y un manual de operación y mantenimiento. metadata.dc.description.abstractenglish:	This project was developed in the parish of General Morales, canton, and province of Cañar. Given the need for an evaluation of the existing wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), with the objective of upgrading or replacing it. After collecting the existing information and analyzing the water quality of the WWTP, we concluded to replace the WWTP, since the effluent water was more polluted than the incoming water. The WWTP was replaced by a plant consisting of pretreatment, primary treatment using an Imhoff tank and secondary treatment using extensive systems such as artificial wetlands. The options analyzed were a horizontal subsurface flow artificial wetland and a vertical subsurface flow artificial wetland. We carried out a design of the two systems to analyze which is the most suitable to meet the needs and fits the project constraints. Considering the characteristics of the terrain, we chose the vertical subsurface flow wetland option. In addition to this, the primary sludge produced in the Imhoff tank will be placed in a drying bed for the digestion process. As a result, construction drawings, construction budget, technical specifications and an operation and maintenance manual were obtained.
