dc.description.abstractenglish INTEROC S.A. is in charge of importing and distributing raw materials, including foodgrade cornstarch. Within the product storage process, bags of food-grade cornstarch have been found to be in poor condition. Breaks in the packaging may change the product status to " not-compliant product? thereby reducing its commercial viability and resulting in economic losses for the company. Therefore, the main objective of this project was to improve the storage process and the handling of food-grade cornstarch bags, establishing operational reconditioning procedures to reduce commercial losses. Data related to the conditions of the bags upon reception and the subsequent storage process was collected and reviewed to know the problems that can cause breakage of the packing. A cause-effect and 5W analysis were carried out to determine the main causes of deterioration. Once these causes were determined, improvements were proposed in the handling and storage process of the bags based on the food industry regulations. As part of the improvements, the reconditioning of the non-compliant cornstarch bags was proposed through repackaging by an endless screw packer machine, recovering the product bags as "technical grade" instead of "food grade". Finally, through a cost analysis it was determined that the investment for the repackaging process is $47897,11, with a NPV and IRR of -$33978,58 and -18%, respectively, making it an unprofitable project. However, this repackaging process could be used in other company?s products, so the project would be profitable
